Multiple lighting brands connect to e-commerce platforms, cross-border integration trend is more prominent

The entire industrial chain covers many different links, such as lighting products, communication protocols, control systems, Internet of Things platforms and sales channels. At the beginning of the development of smart home lighting, some manufacturers in the lighting industry have already begun cross-border cooperation. According to incomplete statistics from LEDinside, four major lighting manufacturers announced their cooperation with e-commerce platforms in 2019.

In September, NVC Lighting, Foshan Lighting and Sunshine Lighting all signed strategic cooperation agreements with Tmall Elves. Tmall Genie will work with various lighting brands around the smart home IoT scene to conduct comprehensive cooperation in terms of technology, products, sales, operations, marketing and other aspects, jointly develop smart products that meet market trends and user needs, and create interconnected, mutually beneficial Intelligent networking ecology. According to the strategic agreement, in the next three years, the three major lighting brands will each realize 10 million smart devices connected to Tmall Genie.

In October, Xin Nuofei announced a strategic cooperation with Tmall. Xin Nuofei will use its accumulated product and technology advantages in the field of smart home, combined with Tmall's huge user base and extensive online sales channels.

Currently, Philips Smart Home Lighting, a subsidiary of Xin Nuofei, has connected with Tmall artificial intelligence “Tmall Genie”. In the future, it will continue to combine other IoT technologies of Tmall Genie to strengthen the interconnection between smart home devices and create new smart applications Scenes.

It is also worth noting that in July 2019, the "SIG MESH Smart Home Lighting White Paper", which was written by Alibaba Artificial Intelligence Lab and OPPLE Lighting was provided by more than 60 companies, was released for the smart home lighting industry. With the factual standards, it will better promote the further development of intelligent lighting and the interconnection between various enterprises.

In 2019, LEDinside interviewed two lighting companies, Sanfeng Lighting and Xiangtian Lighting, as well as Bangqi Smart, a representative manufacturer of smart lighting controllers.

Both Sanfeng Lighting and Xiangtian Lighting believe that the current smart home lighting market is still in the early stages of development, but both companies have seen great potential in this market and have begun to increase investment. Among them, Sanfeng Lighting has expanded its existing product line and added intelligent products. At the same time, the company also regularly holds internal training training classes for the Sanfeng Lighting Business School to learn the production of lighting design solutions, allowing dealers to transform from past lamp sellers into terminal technology service providers, improve lighting professional capabilities and skill levels, and thus enhance the market competitiveness.

In addition, the lighting manufacturer Sanxiong Aurora also publicly stated last year that it would increase investment in the field of home lighting. At present, Sanxiong Aurora's home lighting volume is relatively small. In the future, the company will vigorously expand the home lighting market in order to obtain a higher market share.

In terms of smart lighting technology, Bunge Smart said that smart lighting control communication technology has begun to change from wired to wireless. Philips smart home products are based on Zigbee solutions. At present, many emerging smart home companies also tend to adopt Zigbee solutions. However, after the release of the Bluetooth Mesh in 2018, more and more companies are considering using Bluetooth or a combination of Bluetooth and Wifi. Bunge's existing solutions are Zigbee and Wifi. With the release of Bluetooth 5.0 and Bluetooth Mesh, the company will also consider developing wireless intelligent products based on Bluetooth communication.
